Pneumococcus is the most infectious cause of infectious diseases and causes of death in children under five. Pneumococcal bacteria can enter the bloodstream and cause pneumonia, pneumonia (meningitis) and blood infections (bacteremia). The three diseases are classified as invasive pneumococcal diseases (IPD). Pneumococci can be prevented by routine vaccine administration. In Indonesia, conjugate pneumococcal vaccine (PCV) is recommended for IDA to be given to infants from 2 months of age. Recommended schedule for delivering PCV vaccine is 2,4,6 months and repeat dose at 12-15 months. Pneumococcal vaccine (or PCV: Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine) is a vaccine containing a conjugate protein that aims to prevent the disease due to bacterial streptococcus pneumoniae infection.
